Hey guys,
I know not too many people follow my blog anymore, but I have decided to relight the fire under my butt. I will be starting up my healthy lifestyle again tomorrow. Maybe this time it will stick. I recently became employed, which puts me in a prime position to start this up again. So far I have been pretty successful in my "diet". This diet isn't really a diet, its more of a calorie counting. I have cut soda out of my diet...once again. This has brought my calorie intake way down allowing for some other healthy options to creep up.
On the exercise side of things, I will start that up again tomorrow. My work day doesn't start until 4pm which means I have all morning to do some work! Tomorrow I am going to the pool here and I will be trying to learn how to freestyle lap swim. I know the basics, but I still struggle with breathing while swimming. I am hoping to make this a usual part of my life. Several times a week I would like to go to the indoor pool to get some swimming in. In addition, I was running every day for about 2 miles this summer, but that all fell by the wayside when I started my job. My life has become complicated due to the odd hours my new job requires. I will start running again tomorrow...I know I'll be doubling up, but I think it's for the best. I was really enjoying running when I was doing it this summer.
This new schedule will be demanding, but I believe that I can do it if I really dedicate to this healthy lifestyle. My schedule has me committing a lot more time to different aspects of my life than previous. I believe that I will need to cut out some of the activities I have liked to do in the past. Unfortunately this will most likely mean I will be playing video games less. Sorry all my league friends, but RL always trumps games :(
I have also started to lean how to swing dance. I'm actually really enjoying it, despite the crippling self-doubt that comes with learning how to do something that requires skills I do not possess naturally i.e. being graceful. This will be an interesting development, I hope I can overcome some obstacles and become more comfortable in the swing setting.
That's it for now. If you are still following me after all this time, I will bake you cookies or something sometime!

Regaining Control
So recently I have been reading a web blog known as the "Art of Manliness". Their biggest push as of late is a whole self-improvement thing, and I have decided that starting tomorrow, I will be taking steps to improve myself. The steps I will be taking go along as follows: Physical appearance, confidence, organization, reaching a new level of intelligence.
Let's start with physical appearance. As one would most likely think, this begins with exercise and diet. Although these aren't the only things that should be focused on, there is also dressing nicely, and looking presentable (hair cut, showered, shaved, and good dental hygiene) . I have been circling around different diets and exercise plans with little success for some time now, and it is my hope that writing it down and sharing it with the world will push me to be more successful. After numerous attempts at diets I have settled on a diet I will call Paleo. Most simply put, Paleo is an outrageously low carb/low sugar diet. It revolves around the idea that one should eat only what a caveman would be able to eat. The diet is mostly meat, with veggies and the occasional fruit mixed in.
Now that the diet is covered, let's have a look at exercise. I have developed an exercise plan that I believe will get me the body type I am looking for. It consists of daily workouts following the Insanity workout plan, while alternating P90x's Ab Ripper X, and a calisthenics circuit (i will also be doing pull-ups and chin ups) every other day. I intend to wake up around 7 am each morning and do either ab ripper or calisthenics, and around 4 pm I will be doing my Insanity for the day.
In addition to exercising and eating right I will be making a heavy push to dress nicer, and to maintain a well-groomed look. The clothing will be difficult given my cash flow situation, but that will come in time. However, I will start the other aspects of looking well-groomed with daily intense dental hygiene, showering, shaving, and getting my hair regularly trimmed.
Next on the docket is organization. The Art of Manliness has an excellent article about scheduling one's life that I intend to follow quite strictly. Keeping my room clean and tidy is another important part of the organization section of this self-improvement thing.
I would like to explain the "new level of intelligence" I mentioned next. This, as well as confidence, is a very large step that will most likely take many years to achieve, but let's start small shall we? By the end of this school year, May 2013, I would like to learn a new language. My personal interest is pushing me to Italian. In addition I will have an in-depth knowledge of the most common computer programs I will encounter in my chosen career path. These two things are just a start, but I have big plans for the future that I can address at a later date.
The last thing on my list is confidence. Some years back now I used to be confident and excited to try new things. This made me much more likable, and leagues more interesting then other people. Since attending school at a collegiate level I have lost that confidence I once had. I have no doubt that my confidence level will normalize as I begin to regain control of my life, but as an added bonus I have decided that it's time to put myself out in the world. Start doing things I've never tried, and start meeting people I normally wouldn't. That being said, I'm getting tired now and if I'm going to start all of this tomorrow I'm gonna need my sleep.
Please stop by, I will be posting weekly/twice weekly posts on my progress as well as possibly videos!
Thank you for reading, and I encourage you to join me in regaining control.

John Mayer or Keith Urban, who is the better guitarist?
So recently I have been getting back to my roots by playing my bass guitar. For those of you who don't know, I started on bass about 7 years ago, and picked up a guitar about 5 years ago. I have spent a majority of my summer working and playing bass, and it gave me time to think who my guitar influences really are. Usually, I would say that I come from a very ska-heavy guitar background with guitarist like Aaron Barrett, and Aaron Sinclair from Big D & the Kids Table, but upon the further maturity of my playing style and my rather short but sweet solos, I have decided that I fit more into the blues style of playing. Once I realized this I started to look for modern variations of blues playing and came across John Mayer (about 2 years ago). John Mayer pretty much summed up my future goals in terms of guitar playing, and singing/songwriting as a whole.
One night, about two weeks ago I came across the CMT awards while channel surfing. Given my kryptonite (Taylor Swift), I had no choice but to check it out. (For those people who know me, I usually avoid country music, but it's whatever.) The awards had been going on for about an hour an a half already, but I figured Taylor Swift's a big star she'll be on later. Well it started with the Zac Brown Band I thought, "Hmm maybe Country isn't that bad," I continued watching. Carrie Underwood was next, only one word came to mind...hot, I kept watching. Kid Rock was hosting, slowly getting more drunk/stoned as the night progressed. There were some awards presented, and then it came, Taylor Swift, with straight hair, it was unbelievable. The only problem was, she wasn't performing, instead she introduced Keith Urban, and who else, but John Mayer! I was confused, and excited. I thought "Aww man Keith Urban, what has he ever done," I had forgotten that I had the biggest hit off of his album Golden Road on my iPod. They started playing Sweet Thing (hit off of Keith's newest album). I wasn't all that surprised until the solo breakdown, John started, it was really awesome, as one could expect, but then out of nowhere Keith Urban breaks in with this screaming solo, and I was dumbfounded. I started to reevaluate my musical influences. Who knew this country singer, that has never knocked out more than a 30 second solo on any of his albums could be so crazy, well...apparently the entire county music community. I decided to investigate this new finding. About a week later CMT did an episode of CMT Crossroads with John Mayer, and Keith Urban. I had to see it. One day while I was at work I put in my ear buds and listened to the full episode, while seemingly working. As it turns out, Keith Urban kicks just as much ass as John Mayer any day. So now the real question, who is a better guitarist?
This question took some time, but it was well worth my findings. John writes a majority, if not all of his songs, not surprising. On the other hand he has written himself into a corner, where he is expected to have one or two MAJOR hits, and a bunch of ok songs. Personally, I believe the ok songs are a better representation of his overall skill. However, with Keith Urban about 60%-70% of the songs on his albums are hits, excluding his first album. On the flip flop, he majorly does co-writing on those songs, which don't make them any worse, and potentially means nothing in terms of him, as an artist, it's just kind of a let down. So now the decision, who is better, and in the end they're both incredible and completely incomparable. Both of them have elastic styles, meaning that neither one can be classified as country, pop, blues, or rock. They just can't be tamed...:P I have decided that since Keith is mainly country/rock, and John is more blues, the only smart thing to do is combine both their styles to make for the biggest ball of kick ass ever! So that's what I'm gonna start to do. I mean country music is actually pretty good if you're in the mood for it, but nothing will ever replace ska for me.
What it all means?
Nothing, really, just thought it was a cool story.
Have a good day, and thanks for reading.

The Patsasaurus' Take on One Hit Wonders
So as I am spacing out listening to music at work, I came across a band called Nine Days. Now for me this band isn't a one hit kinda band, I have almost all their cd's...or I guess mp3's these days. Well as some on you know, other's might not, cause they aren't obsessed with 90's music. *cough cough* They had a hit song at the end of the 90's called Absolutely (Story of a Girl). "This is the story of a girl, who cried a river and drowned the whole world." Yeah, now you know what I'm talking about. Well, when this song came on I started to think, "What would life be like if I had a one hit wonder?" I soon realized it would suck pretty hard. One hit wonders are one of those things that would be awesome for about 3 months, but then you give it up for a little bit and your life sucks. yeah. Well I started thinking of more one hit wonders. Reel Big Fish, Semisonic, Hootie and the Blowfish...kinda, Spin Doctors, Blessid Union of Souls, and so on. These 90's bands were doomed from the start, what with all the Backstreet Boys, and N*SYNC (Wayyy better than Backstreet). If rock was a person it would be on a respirator. I guess if I were a one hit wonder it would be nice, I mean you get the paparazzi for like 2 months then you never have to deal with them again. On the flip side you're only famous for 2 months, but you still get to play those shows that people go to only to hear the last song you're gonna play. I think it would be tough, especially if you didn't accept that you'll never be famous again.
One of my favorite bands is Reel Big Fish, and that's partially because of their big hit Sell Out...but honestly, I hadn't hear that song when I decided I like them. It's their whole attitude toward being a one hit wonder. It's like they know they are far past their glory days, and they make fun of how popular they used to be. Not to mention their music is GOOD! Then again, I am quite partial toward obscure bands.
I like how people these days can tell if a song is gonna be a one hit wonder. I mean look at bands like Metro Station. The only reason they got signed in the first place is because they are related to the stars of the Disney show Hannah Montana, but they had one hit and I haven't hear anything from them since. It could just be me getting older and more musically mature, but I could have guessed that they weren't gonna be around for long at all.
This is one of those things I'd like to hear opinions on, so let me know what you think in a comment.
Have a great day!

An Intrigueing Look into the Working World
As some of you may know, I have recently (5 weeks ago) started working a 8-5 job. Now for some of you, this is not too bad...but considering my last job was a 8-12, I consider these 8 hours of my life a reoccurring hell. Not only is it the most cliché of offices, but I have been cut-off from the outside world. You see, I have no cell phone service in this mysterious rat race. That being said, I mine as well not even bring my phone battery because it's just gonne die 2 hours later. In the end I guess it's best for my phone to die, because it reduces my contact with any of my 4 bosses. That's right...4. I feel like I'm stuck in the movie Office Space. Everyone is in constant fear of losing their job, and have no respect for the people working under them. At any rate, this whole working thing isn't quite what I was hoping for.
I get the feeling that not too many people like working. You're probably like, "Wait 'a figure that out Einstein." But I bring that up, because I don't think people should just stop working, but I do think if you are gonna spend 40 hours a week, 160 hours a month, 1920 hours a year, and so on, you mine as well enjoy what you're doing. I know I've mentioned something like this earlier, but it's important. People doing something they hate for that long can't be good for your mental health. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say to all you people who invest hundreds of dollars on migraine pills, is it really worth it? Imagine how much stress you could relieve just from spending 40 hours a week doing something you like. I have read in my adventures through the internet that it takes approximately 10,000 hours to master anything, obviously depending on how often you do it. You can't just practice really hard for a week then blow it off for a month. Just think, it would only take 5ish years for you to master anything, if you spend as much time on it as you do at work! Pretty amazing stuff if I do say so myself. You will have obstacles to work through. I dunno about you, but I can't sit and play guitar for 8 hours straight, I've tried. The end fact is that society looks down upon people who do this. People who chase their dream can't live off of what they do. Thus, we are thrown back into this endless cycle of doing what we don't like because it is impossible to live otherwise.
I have no transition!!!!
Here's a story:
Early last week, I was talking to one of my bosses and realized that there might be more to this company than I once thought. I realized that there is so much drama, I mine as well be living in Newport Beach. I'm confused, but since when is college the peak of maturity? I mean all that high school drama was bound to return after college. I wish I knew this was coming. If I had know how much gossip travels around the working world I would have just not bothered to introduce myself...I bet everyone would have known me. I guess I don't understand the corporate world. Just figures.
Have a good day.

George Washington isn't the peanut guy?!?!
So, to all 4 of my subscribers so far, I would like to apologize. It was originally my intention to write a post every day. Unfortunately, this is the first free moment I've had. Now on to business.
First order, the Healthcare bill. I know that we have elected, as a people all these highly intellectual politicians, but it seems to me that we are generally unhappy. Now I would like to blame this on human nature, at least with the people that I hang around with. It seems like there is no possible way to make everyone happy all the time. In theory we as the people of the United States have elected those who are supposed to represent our ideals. It seems we are all doomed to be angry preteens listening to Simple Plan and My Chemical Romance while curled up in the corner of our bedroom writing terrible poetry hoping that someone out there will actually give a shit. In reality, everyone in the real world could care less, the only solution is to do something about it. That is where out governmental system comes in. These people we elect into office are supposed to care about what the people want. Once again all is in vain, the way I see it, I don't care how good the bill sounds to a whole 6 politicians, if it takes this amount of arm-twisting to get something past....don't you think there could be a problem with it. Now I'm not supporting it one way or another, cause in all honesty by the time I get old enough for this bill to majorly effect my life it'll have changed. Now as you can obviously tell by now, I haven't really read all of the bill...more like lightly skimmed through it. That being said, what right do I have to attack or defend this new so called "legislation." I can just picture our international readers looking at this and laughing at how screwed up this "government by the people" is. I have heard people arguing about politics, republican vs. democrats, what does it matter. When the forefathers of this nation constructed this government they did so with multiple parties. I mean hell our first president didn't even have a set party. It's amazing how things have changed. Now if a candidate isn't running for the Democratic or Republican they don't stand a chance. So I would like to know what you think! This is your chance, let me know in a text response.
On a totally unrelated topic, a friend of mine posted a poll to see who people like better: Taylor Swift or Lady Gaga. As some of you know, I am quite partial to Taylor Swift. I find her to represent the proverbial girl next door, but in this poll Lady Gaga dominated. I found this weird, I mean I get it, I'm totally cool with the whole "I'm a disturbed artist that demonstrates my issues with weird concoctions that I guess can be called cloths." I get it I mean in light of her recent video "Telephone" she attempts to prove the career long rumor that she has male parts somewhere down there. I'm sorry but it's so hard to sit through 9 minutes of shameless product placement, and terrible dialogue. I guess she's just the flavor of the week these days. Oh, and feel free to comment on this as well.
I know that only a few people out there care about the quirky inner-workings of my twisted mind pathetically written in this terrible excuse for literature, but I'm really glad that some people are still reading and keeping up. Have a great night.

Prehistoric Blog Number 2
So, it would seem that college professors have an inability to allow students to enjoy this pathetic week long break. You see Spring Break to me is a single oasis of relaxation in a desolate desert of projects and papers. I never understood how spring semester could be so much harder than fall semester until I asked my roommate. His response was, "Well we have one lousy break at the beginning of the semester, then about 6 weeks until the next one." I had never really thought about it, but I remembered back when I was a wee little primary schooler, we had presidents day off. No offense to Dr. Martin Luther King, but I enjoyed having school off in the middle of the semester instead of the week we get back from winter break. Honestly, I don't see the harm in celebrating both MLK day and Presidents, at least that way we wouldn't have to worry about people complaining. I noticed as soon as MLK Day became a celebrated holiday in the school systems people just had to complain. One side would be all, "President's day celebrates all the past presidents and all they did for the nation," and the other, "MLK is a symbol of equal rights." IMO if you look at it this way technically Lincoln is a symbol of equal rights, or at least the first step in the uphill battle. Lincoln is also a president, score one more for Presidents Day. What better way to celebrate the fine gentlemen who have both shaped and destroyed our nation. I'd be all for MLK day if he was just born a month later. At least with Presidents Day there are some companies that will let their employees take the day off. Whatever happened to the cliche President's Day cookout, or President's Day is Family Day, I guess those things just aren't as important as they used to be. That's not to say equal right for all man isn't worth celebrating...I still have trouble imagining what was going through people head back when equal rights were just "equal rights". Either way, when it comes down to it, people will find something to complain about, it's human nature to always want what you don't have.
Enough of that nonsense, now to the topic at hand, St. Patrick's Day. First of all this is not a day named after myself (common misconception, you see). It is, in fact, named after St. Patrick, the man who lead the snakes out of Ireland. I always thought that he led them into Scotland and into Lock Ness. In my head, Nessy is just a massive convergence of little snakes to make one big snake-turd-monster-thing. But enough of that. I for one love this holiday, if anything, this is a holiday that schools should celebrate. As some of you know, and many of the billions of people on the internet don't know, I am 100% Irish. I like potatoes, I have pale skin, freckles, and some people actually think I have red hair...I don't, but it's whatever. I'm very proud of my Irish heritage, even though I've never actually visited Ireland. My plans for tonight were as follows: Drink myself into a stupor, learn how to play the fiddle, dance an Irish jig with a bonnie lass, and take a taxi home. As you can probably tell from the time of this post, I did no such thing. This will be the first St. Patty's day that I haven't celebrated in a very long time. We're talking nothing. No green, no clovers, no drinking, and worst of all, no potatoes. All hope is not lost, I managed to get a ton of work done...which really means I'm lame and did homework over Spring Break, and lost track of the days. I've been staring at this computer screen for just over 4 hours, and my eyes feel like they're gonna bleed. Hopefully, I will find something good to do tonight, to redeem myself from being lame.
I'm gonna go ahead and close up this little bitch-out session, with one request. If you're still able to go out, buy yourself a bottle of Guinness Extra Stout and get pant's shitting drunk tonight...for me. Thanks for reading as always, and like a white guy trying to be a rasta rapper, I licketty boom boom down.
